FUT Roundup: FIFA Path to Glory Cards Explained

As of UTC+18:00 (or 6:00 pm London time), EA Sports has unveiled FIFA Ultimate Team’s latest special card pack: Path to Glory. Much like In-Form cards or the more recent Scream cards, these 25 just-released players boast increased stats, and a never before seen purple/pink colorway.

You may have noticed though, that Pastore’s card doesn’t have increased stats at all– they’re quite the same as his standard rare gold. So what gives?

Much like with the Ones to Watch cards debuted earlier this year, EA Sports is taking a different approach with these FUT cards; the stat increases will only occur if and when they feel that the player has shown flashes of brilliance on the pitch, or as some might say, embarked on his path to glory (/s). A nice difference between these cards and typical special cards, like In-Forms (IF) or Man of the Match (MOTM) cards, is that PTG cards will automatically receive a stat upgrade any time its player earns a special card, like Team of the Week (TOTW) or Record Breaker (RB). In the official press release, EA describes the Path to Glory (PTG) cards as follows:

Starting November 10, for a limited time, these 25 players contending for a spot on their national team will be available in packs as special Path to Glory items. While each player fights to prove his worth throughout the current season, these items will get automatic upgrades for every Team of the Week, Man of the Match, Hero, European Team of the Tournament or Record Breaker they earn. Time is running out – who will make the final squad?

The going prices have been all over the place for these cards, as the market is still stabilizing from their initial release. Most of the 25 PTG cards started somewhere around 20,000 coins, although some have unsurprisingly skyrocketed. For what it’s worth the Quick Sell value of PTG cards is 9,516– just shy of the 9,760 Quick Sell value of a standard In-Form card.

A large portion of the PTG cards are currently available at reasonable prices, but that is sure to change in the coming days, so act while you can if you have any intention of acquiring them.
